Founding Shareholder Tony Renning was instrumental in the creation of Renning, Lewis & Lacy in 2015. On December 3, 2024, he passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. While his passing has left a profound sense of sadness for all who worked with him, his legacy as a great lawyer, colleague, and friend endures. His steady presence, his intellect, and his commitment to partnership have left an indelible mark on all of us. It is hard to put into words what he meant to so many of us.
Tony concentrated his practice in labor and employment, and school law. He provided advice and counsel to employers and municipalities, including school districts, about their rights and obligations under federal and state laws and regulations. He advised on all aspects of labor and employment compliance, including wage and hour, leaves of absence, discrimination, harassment, reductions in force, work force management, employment policies and handbooks as well as other employment-related matters. Tony had experience with labor negotiations, union certification and decertification campaigns, unfair labor practice litigation and contract administration, including grievance arbitration. He regularly represented clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission. In addition, he conducted employment-related training for management. His primary client base included private (various industries) and public (counties, cities and school districts) employers of all sizes.
